sideways

saw this film a couple weeks ago. haven't had time to write about it. really have some other things to write about, so i'll keep it short. this movie was funny as hell. most people who are "into comedy movies" probably won't think it's funny, but that's because they're all jokers who can only process humor if it's already been processed by national lampoon. after amercan splendor, i've decided paul giamatti is my favorite actor. based on sheer acting skill, johnny depp is still the man, but he'll occasionally take a dipshit role to pay the bills (see pirates of the caribbean). though i don't find giamatti to be spectacular, when he's the lead man in a movie, you can be guaranteed it's because they need intricate character pieces with realistic character development. in other words, there's no unnecessary idealization when giamatti, a very unideal person in a lot of people's eyes, is the lead. go see sideways.
